One of my favourite family rituals for the new year is having a fun Family Democracy Night to reflect on the prior year, set intentions for the coming year and pick a motivational “Word of the Year” to help inspire us throughout the coming year.
As we step into this new year, we’re thrilled to share that our family’s word of the year for 2024 is “Empowerment.” This powerful word embodies our commitment to embracing personal power, making assertive choices, and holding firm to the boundaries we’ve set. It’s a guiding light as we strive to thrive and grow in the year ahead.
Why “Empowerment”? It’s a natural transition from last year’s word, “Strengthen.” In 2023, we focused on strengthening our skills, relationships, and self-care, among other things. This year, we’re taking it a step further by empowering ourselves to make intentional and assertive decisions that align with our vision for a fulfilling life.
Reflecting on our previous words of the year, like “Balance,” “Growth,” “Gratitude,” and “Patience,” we see how each one has played a vital role in shaping our intentions and keeping us on a purposeful path. They’ve been the building blocks that have led us to “Empowerment,” and we’re excited to see how this word will inspire and guide us in the months to come.
